A giant heart with a green thumb and the spine to write.

I’ve been solving problems since day one.

Nose pushed up to my paper and legs dangling from my standard-issue kindergartener chair, I thoughtfully illustrated an artist under the prompt: “what I want to be when I grow up.” As I sketched the delicate tresses of my future self, one of my classmates darted behind me, scooting my seat and sending my arm across the page.

The put-together artist I envisioned for myself now looked more like Alfalfa from the Little Rascals. I was enraged—at first.

Taking in a deep breath, I repositioned the crayon in my hand and added layer upon layer of voluminous locks. My destiny was decided. The only thing I could be when I grew up, with this hair, was a rock star.

This imagination has always been what makes me me. This innate curiosity for life and innovative drive has pushed me to hone my skills of writing, art direction, and strategy to render a creative powerhouse, if I do say so myself.

And while I might not have become an actual rock star, I believe my work speaks volumes.
